Wedding and baby fever but still in college

In the past four weekends alone I have been to a bridal shower and two baby showers, plus my co-worker is ready to give birth any second. I am being suffocated with babies and weddings to say the least.

Not that this is horrible. Really, what girl doesn’t love a wedding and babies? However, the questions that are prompt from my surroundings are annoying.

I’m halfway through college and family and a few friends have asked countless times if I will get married, if I would have a destination or traditional wedding, how many babies I want, etc.

All I want is to make the dean’s list again. Of course like other young girls I’ve thought about my future especially since I have older cousins who are popping out kids and saying, “I do” as I’m writing this blog.

It is exciting to share a part of an experience with those in life who are going through these new milestones, but at the same time it is very intimidating.

You know being a young adult is stressful. There are a billion thoughts running through a college student’s head. Everything from what to major in to finding the right person to settle down with to building credit and so on becomes overwhelming.

I will say the best part of witnessing new marriages and newborn babies is to prepare for what is next to come.

Right now I’m concerned with finishing papers on time, creating presentations and passing my exams. That doesn’t mean becoming a wife and mommy isn’t on my backburner. It truly is.

For any college students that have family or friends with spouses and children- take note. It’s good now to understand how relationships work with the ups, downs and all in-betweens.

My boss has a 15 month-old baby girl and babysit her often. She is the most precious thing in the entire world!

She is a good baby always smiling and laughing, but it still a lot of work taking care of a small human being.

I also try and watch how my older cousins act as parents. I take in as much as I can because there isn’t a course in college called, “Good Parenting 101.”

My main priority is being the best college student I can be and preparing for my future career. At the same time I feel as if now is the time to start thinking of my future family.
