Pinnacle Health to unite with Wayne Memorial Health Centers
“We’ll have a new name, but our patients will have the same doctors and high-quality care they’ve come to know,” says Pinnacle Office Manager Gail Peterson. As of the end of December, Michael Peterson, DO and Charles Aronica, DO, will officially merge their practice, currently Pinnacle Health Partners, with Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers. The new name will be Pinnacle Family Health Center. The practice will continue to be limited to adult medicine.
“We welcome Pinnacle to our ‘family’ of health centers,” says Frederick Jackson, executive director of Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers. “These two physicians have a legacy of providing exceptional care to our community for more than 20 years. We are proud to partner with them in the continuation of this service.
“And we believe we can help them incorporate new patients into their practice with the addition of a mid-level provider early next year.”
Drs. Peterson and Aronica also welcomed their new healthcare partner. “This merger will help us with the ‘business’ of medicine,” said Dr. Peterson, “such as billing, giving us hopefully more time to spend with our patients on their medical needs, which has always been the heart of our mission.”
Both physicians and their office staff see many opportunities for their patients in the WMCHC network, such as more convenient access to specialists in women’s health, pediatrics, pulmonology and surgery. WMCHC accepts most if not all insurance plans, Medicare and public assistance, and offers increased payment options such as a sliding-fee-scale.
Patients will also have the option of signing up for the WMCHC patient portal, CHCconnect, where they can request appointments, renew prescriptions and more from their computers or Smartphones.
WMCHC, an independent clinical affiliate of Wayne Memorial Health System and a federally qualified health center, operates family health centers in Honesdale, Carbondale, Vandling, Hamlin, Waymart, Lake Como and Lords Valley. A complete list of WMCHC services can be found at wmh.org/community_health_centers.
