DelVal tricky tray needs support

Delaware Valley sixth graders involved in the DVTV program prepare for a news cast. Pictured on camera is Alexis Callanan, floor director Satya Wala, reporters Jillian Corwin, Atumn Vallis, Joe Loughney, Ryan Wehner and puppeteer Bella Irwin.

At Delaware Valley Elementary School, mornings start with a live news
program broadcast to every classroom. The news is produced by sixth grade
students who participate in DVE-TV program. A different broadcast news team
arrives at school early each day to prepare for the show. The DVE news also has
writers who stay after school and write articles for the Smile-o-gram
newspaper.

The program teaches students how to communicate on a deadline. DVE-TV students
travel outside the school to conduct interviews. Sometimes students invite
local people to come to the studio for an interview.

Later this year the entire news team will travel to Philadelphia to visit media
outlets there and tour the city.

The program is funded mainly through fundraising. The DVE-TV tricky tray is
largest fundraiser of the year. It will be held March 3 at the Delaware Valley
Elementary School Gym. Doors open at 2 p.m. Calling starts at 4 p.m.

Admission is free. There will be more than 250 trays plus door prizes and large
raffle items.

Donations of tricky tray items are still being accepted. Contact the school for
more information. (570) 296-1820
