Final board meeting for Delaware Valley Superintendent

Thursday marked the last school board meeting for Candis Finan as Delaware Valley School District’s Superintendent.

She is retiring after 31 years with the district but Finan will not immediately disappear.

The board agreed to a contract that will keep her available as a consultant to incoming superintendent John Bell.

The board budgeted up to $75,000 in consultant fees for the next school year. Finan will earn $107 an hour, no more
than $750 a day when needed to help with a smooth transition.

The board presented Finan with a bouquet of flowers Thursday. Meeting attendees, some in tears, gave her a standing
ovation.

“It has been a privilege,” Finan said in an emotional statement.

Finan said she had tried to figure out how many board meetings she had attended, and suggested multiplying 31 years by 12 monthly meetings a year. That would be 372 meetings. But it is likely more than 800 meetings if the monthly work shop meetings and committee meetings are counted.
