Halfway predictions
With Week 9 a couple of days away, it’s time to work in some predictions for the rest of the way.
The nice thing about this is once I’m proven wrong, I get to change it again four weeks from now. (Here’s the link to my last predictions.)
A lot of changes happening in the NFC while the AFC didn’t see too many except for one major in the AFC championship game. Instead of having the Colts beating the Steelers, I’ve flipped to Steelers beating the Colts, who still keep the No. 2 seed. Also, the Texans bump the Jets off the list, giving Houston its first postseason trip in franchise history. I know the Texans lost superstar tight end Owen Daniels for the year, but they have so many other weapons on offense that it’s possible they can overcome such a significant loss.
In the NFC however, I have two new division winners (Eagles and Cardinals), removing the 49ers completely from the playoffs. I don’t like how San Francisco will be without its two starting offensive tackles, LT Joe Staley and RT Tony Pachos, for at least six weeks. This is a crucial point in the season and injuries like that up front can decimate a team.
Other changes are that the Cowboys make the playoffs, taking the spot of the Bears, and the Giants move from NFC East champs and the 2 seed to the 6 seed. Vikings move to the 2 seed and Eagles take 3 seed.
