Time to take a break

Unfortunately, I have to pry myself away from the computer and stop posting breaking news. Something about showering and getting ready for work and actually accomplishing something like getting off the recliner. It’s one of the downfalls of not covering the NFL  full time. As a matter of fact, I do most of — if not all [...]

A few important Eagles notes

In my haste to increase my coffee intake to fuel my desire to keep up with the breaking news around the NFL, it’s very easy to get behind in the swarm of updates — especially since I’m riding solo for as long as I can. But for those Eagles fans, here are some tidbits — rather [...]

Bloomsburg product could be one of highest-paid guards ever

The Super Bowl champion Saints have the best guard in football. And the Saints brass has finally stopped celebrating long enough after the franchise’s first championship to lock up a key player, G Jahri Evans, in the team’s historic run. The great thing about that distinction is that Evans, of Philadelphia, went to Bloomsburg University. Evans, a restricted [...]

Background check on Jets newly acquired corner Antonio Cromartie

If the only thing Jets fans remember is Antonio Cromarie’s 10-interception, All-Pro season in 2007, good for you — you’re in fandom. There’s no denying Cromartie physical prowess, but you can’t turn a blind eye to his checkered past and his present legal problems. Cromartie brings with him from coast to coast a ton of baggage, and [...]

Catching up on free-agency in one-liner fashion

Since I don’t have a stable of sports writers pouncing all over the late-developing news, I’ve decided to adopt a handy method that will allow me to disseminate news quickly: I’m going one-liner style, courtesy of ProFootballTalk.com. The Atlanta Falcons were considered the favorite to land free agent corner Dunta Robinson (from Houston), and it appears [...]

Lions getting in the mix, too

Lions head coach Jim Schwartz is ready to make changes for the Lions this coming season. And to do that, he’s going back to a former player he coached while in Tennessee. Schwartz showed up a free agent DE Kyle Vanden Bosch’s home just at the launch of the free-for-all market. Schwartz was Vanden Bosch’s defensive coordinator [...]

Chicago ready for a fight to land Peppers

Free agent defensive end Julius Peppers is scheduled to visit the hell-bent Chicago Bears on Friday, and Peppers’ agent says it’s the Bears’ “deal to lose.” The Bears are a desperate team, and coach Lovie Smith and his staff on a one-year leash and GM Jerry Angelo likely to get the boot if the team does [...]
