Found this nugget out there about Darrell Givens, the highly touted cornerback who announced Thursday that he will not attend Penn State because he did not qualify to get into the school.
This report tells me two things. One, Joe Paterno not only likes Givens as a player, but as a person, too. Two, Paterno is convinced that this kid would be a valuable asset to not only the football program but also to Penn State University. Not many players get more than one chance from Paterno let alone three.
I still say Givens ends up elsewhere. If this was 10 years ago and the Internet wasn’t such a big factor in recruiting and how news is dispersed Givens might still end up at Penn State, but not in this day and age.
