soundtrack-o-rama
I don’t wanna be like Jim Breuer’s SNL Goat Boy character, but hey, do you remember the 80s?
Every movie that came out had a soundtrack — and it drove people to movies. It also drove record sales. The videos acted like a trailer for the movie. Everyone was happy, including the fans, who were given [...]

crystal duck would have been better
Since the mid-90s, when the stories of an Indiana Jones sequel surfaced, the reports were always the same.
No movie would be made unless all three of the principles — producer George Lucas, director Steven Spielberg and star Harrison Ford — could agree on a script. The theory was the three of them worked too hard [...]

finale watch (american idol)
Seven years, seven champions and 271 episodes later, I’m still bewildered.
I still don’t get the appeal of American Idol. I don’t understand why it has made Simon Cowell a multi-gazillionaire, turned Ryan Seacrest into the most important man in Hollywood since Michael Ovitz and transformed Paula Abdul into a blubbering moron.

the devil made it an hour
Just a quick review of the season finale of Reaper on Tuesday:
I liked it.

Cliffhangers were few and far between — Who Shot J.R., the occasional cop shooting on Hill Street Blues — and when they were used, they were usually considered pretty lame.
Then, TV people realized [...]

finale watch (earl, office, ER)
SPOLIER ALERTS FOR EARL, OFFICE AND ER!!! SPOLIER ALERTS FOR EARL, OFFICE AND ER!!! SPOLIER ALERTS FOR EARL, OFFICE AND ER!!! IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THEM YET, TURN AWAY!!!
This is pretty much it for me, the end of all of my TV shows for the season. I might check out some other finales of shows [...]

no, speed racer, no
Don’t feel bad, Speed Racer. Every summer movie season needs at least one.
With its catastrophic — but not unpredictable — weekend box office take of just $18.6 million, Speed Racer, the racing movie based on the 70s anime cartoon, played to empty theaters throughout the country and took the lead after the first 50 miles [...]

live at penn’s peak
We’ve got our first PopRox guest blogger:
It’s Nick Sacco of North Bergen, N.J., who was at the Live show at Penn’s Peak on Sunday. Nick contacted me about the story that ran in Sharp on Thursday as a big Live fan, and told me he’d be at the show. He offered to write up a [...]
