can’t stop the movies
It’s starting to look like one of the recession-proof businesses in the country is movies, with attendance up 10 percent this year compared to this point last year after Monsters vs. Aliens grabbed $58 million last weekend and everything else performed pretty well.
I’m not yet convinced it’s necessarily true, though, especially with more studios [...]

where are the wild things?
If you’re under 45, there’s a good chance you have the book Where the Wild Things are.
There’s also a pretty good chance you love it, and an even better chance it freaked you the eff out as a kid. That’s why you remember it now. You don’t necessarily remember one word of what was written in [...]

local, baby, all local
I don’t do as many all-local Pop Rox blogs as I should, but my inbox is piling up with stuff right now that deserves mention. As always, if you have any local events going on, send them into me and I’ll try to get them up here every now and then.
You could also send me [...]

come back from new zealand, please!
Since we’re about to hit another hugely busy time in TV watching, time to recap the last couple (also very busy) weeks:
FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS: Am I already taking what is probably the smartest show on TV for granted? I still like it more than just about anything not called Mad Men. But it seems [...]

sorry ’bout this
Hey guys and gals, just wanted to let everyone know if they’re coming by today there won’t be a blog today. At least it doesn’t look like they’re will, I’m on a breaking story that is requiring my time.
Sorry about that.
I’ll leave it at this — I loved the season (series?) finales of Flight of [...]

save friday night lights — again!
I’ve been boning you out of links all week, so let’s make up for that today. The spell check isn’t working on this bad boy, so sorry if there’s a mistrake mistake or two:
It’s right about that time again, to start worrying about your favorite fringe TV shows. The only show on my radar I’m [...]

tourney time
It’s short notice, but I’ve set up a group for PopRox readers to fill out NCAA Tournament brackets on ESPN.com.
Call it the PopRox Bracket Challenge. It’s free, it’s fun, and I’ll see if I can find some prize sitting around the Pocono Record offices to give out to the winner if we get enough [...]

how many movies can you pack into a summer?
I’m pretty sure my head will officially explode in the summer of 2011.
The latest tentpole franchise announced it will release there when Paramount and DreamWorks said they’ll release Transformers 3 in July 2011 over the July 4 weekend.
Tranny-3 (pretty sure that’s how I’ll refer to it from now on) is bunched up with Spidey 4 (May 6, 2011), [...]

dun-st with spidey?
Some links to get you through a Monday where you’re just going to be staring out the window all day looking at how nice it is outside:
Any Spider-Man 4 news is good news, as far as I’m concerned, especially when it comes from Sam Raimi. The big news here is that Kirsten Dunst still hasn’t [...]
