Live Chat Coming Friday!

Quick hitter here under the guise of being a blog post, but it’s really just a reminder about the PopRox live chat Friday at noon:

At the Record, we get dozens of faxes/emails a day from police departments. Almost none of them are remotely interesting. But today, I took one of the fax that claimed a woman named Jessica Simpson, 29, of Pocono Pines, was charged with public drunkenness. Apparently she was trying to flag down police for something, and they realized she was too drunk to be left to her own devices.

nope. not this one.

nope. not this one.

Now mind you, I’m terribly aware the chances of this being the famous singer/sexpot/tuna and chicken wing lover Jessica Simpson are exactly 0.0000001 percent. So I checked famous JS’s age on IMDB — yup, she’ll turn 30 in July. At that point, since I’m not the cop reporter, I handed it off to Record reporter Adam McNaughton at the desk next to me with the advice, “If you don’t want to sound like too much of a dork, you can ask for the middle name.” Famous JS’s middle name is Ann.

Then I heard Adam on the phone, “I’m sorry, did you say ‘N’ or ‘Ann’?”

And for a second, I got excited.

Alas, the voice on the other end did in fact say ‘N.’ Arrested JS in Pocono Pines was not famous JS.

So close. Just thought you might like a little insight into what goes on in a newsroom every day.

Oh, and don’t forget — PopRox live chat Friday at noon, I’ll stay on as long as people keep hanging out and asking questions. If you want some extra reminders, you can friend PopRox on Facebook or follow PopRox on Twitter. There will also be a live Twitter feed of the chat at #poprox.

I’ll be back with a blog post tomorrow, but just wanted to throw this out there today.
