“What are you prepared to give for your dream? If it is not everything…stop pipe dreaming.” – T.F. Hodge

I had a dream. It’s not fake news, but it may be a fake dream…

It was a Tuesday morning in the month of May in the year of 2037. The 32 annual Pocono Marathon has started on Sunday morning at 7am! It was now sun up and it appeared as if it would be a bright beautiful morning. I was blazing down the road towards the Stadium! I was summoning all the strength and courage I had to give my all to my finishing kick, I felt GREAT! There was no doubt I would finish under 48 hours; as long as I didn’t trip!

As I turned onto the track I glanced to the left and saw the clock counting down. The sun was glaring in my eyes, I could see what appeared to be the figure of a person hanging on to the clock post. As I came round the turn I could see over at the clock and it was Don Jewell feebly hanging on half asleep.

As I ran a little farther down the back stretch I saw my grandson Jake and Grammie helping my daughter Lisa Flory with her walker into the stadium. Evidently the past few years have been hard on Lisa, of course she is now in her early 70’s! Red Cross Volunteers were rolling 2 people onto the track in wheel chairs. They were Bob Wertz and Bill Carlton and they were clapping and cheering wildly.

As I rounded the last turn and headed for the finish line both Bob and Bill tried to stand but they just kept falling back into their wheel chairs. Lisa began to tilt to one side and thank God Jake and Grammie kept her from falling over! She was mumbling “dad you MUST run faster! Don kept tight hold on the timing clock with one hand while extending the other to shake my hand all the while mumbling over and over again, “Rod you gotta work on your speed!”

It was the fastest marathon I had run in several years, it did take a few days but I had RFR number 32 under my belt!!! YES, Jesus love me!
