“Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.” – Joshua J. Marine

This very applicable to our running also. If we don’t challenge ourselves we don’t improve! Take a chance! Go farther, run faster, than you ever have before! Try something you think is impossible! You may be surprised at the athlete inside of you! Do it with pride and joy on your face and in your heart!

FROM LISA FLORY – Hi Orange Shirts!!

I’m sending this email to all of you to make all of you aware of the changes that have been going on with the timing team. When Scott passed away none of us wanted to see all the good work he had started timing local races end. We met and we agreed that we wanted to continue on with timing the events for him. That first year was incredible!! We had more people than we needed showing up to time races and it felt great to know we were doing what we could to keep his memory alive. We kept up timing the races the next year and we still had a great team showing up at the races and again it was awesome to keep timing for Scott!

This year we noticed a big difference in the team. We still were out there timing and we still had great people showing up but as usually happens with these things people had started moving on with their lives and with training and doing all the things that they had going on in their lives. As they should!! Time goes on and so does life. The only problem with this is that it was slowly becoming a job for my family to keep the team going and the same people were the ones left to handle the races. SO to make this story short, after stressing over it and feeling as though I was letting Scott down, I approached both Suzanne Ewing and Trish D’Imperio to see if we could come up with a solution that could keep Scott’s team going forward.

The decision we came up with is that Trish and Ready Set Run will take on timing the local races. She has also agreed to let us borrow the equipment for a few local races that we know meant a lot to Scott. They are the Law Day Race, The Greythound Hustle, the Scott Ewing YMCA 5K, and the two annual GOTR graduation events. It makes me feel good to know that we can don our orange shirts a few times a year and cheer on the runners at some races! Also, Trish will be looking for help with the races she will be doing as well so anyone that wants to help out can do that too.

I’m so thankful to have had the opportunity to work with all of you over the past 3 years as we timed and cheered at the races around the area!! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
