stuff ‘round the mill
When things are going great, plenty of people will stand by you, but it’s the people who will stand by you even when things aren’t going great who count. These are the people who will cheer you on and encouraging you during the toughest times. These are the types of people you want in your life. – Oprah Winfrey

Don’t you love a frosty cold morning! Isn’t amazing how soon after we begin running in the fresh clear cold air we begin to not even notice the cold! Our bodies are amazing! We can endure so much more than we realize before we challenge ourselves and break through the barriers we thought were unbearable! Cold heat, they can’t harness us! I begin so many runs feeling as thought I should have just stayed inside and rested only to suddenly find myself moving easily and having a REALLY rewarding workout! I just need to give myself a chance! My body wants to work! Sometimes I just need to ignore the laziness in my mind and RUN! (or trot/walk)

Give yourself a chance! Go out and do the very best you can! YOU are worth the effort! YOU can improve your health and fitness! Good health, fitness, and happiness are within your grasp! The decision is yours to make!

And with Oprah’s thought in mind choose your training partners wisely. Train with those that lift you up, avoid those that try to make you feel small!

FROM JIM DUDEN – Rod, Hope all is well. I was at a meeting at the Governor Pinchot Grey Towers Historic Site today in Milford, PA, with the National Park Service, United States Forest Service, and other Agencies. During part of the meeting, they told me they have this great race every year. It is a very special place. I know you would really enjoy this Place. Here is the info for the race coming up in May. Thanks Jim Duden

01/28 – The Beast of Burden 200 Mile Ultra Marathon Series is not a race…Sure, there’s a timing clock, a start/finish line, and some truly awe-inspiring world-class runners who will travel from the far corners of the globe to toe that line and race that clock on one of the flattest, fastest and most runner-friendly surfaces on the earth in hopes of setting new world records. But, that’s just a centerpiece for what really makes the Beast Ultra special. This event is our semi-annual family reunion for ultra-runners as unique as yourself.
