stuff ‘round the mill
“Talent is never enough. With few exceptions the best players are the hardest workers.” – Magic Johnson

(Show of hands, how many of y’all can remember running with Dr. Marty Alfano when he wore his hair in a ponytail??)
Okay, several replies are in. Steve Mikels says the pony tail is better than a man bun. Aaron Alfano raised his hand. Lisa Pizzuto says it was before her time. I really like Bob Stouts response, he ran with Marty before, during, and after his pony tail. Bob survived a triple whammy!

There have been a number of “good bye” parties for Marty and Bronwyn. That is a testament to the contributions they have made to our community throughout a broad spectrum. They both have been and are a TRUE BLESSING to this community!

I haven’t been to any of these celebrations. After a quarter of a century of sharing training, racing, and coffee with Marty I’m not ready to say goodbye! On the day Marty is standing looking into my casket, or I into his, on that day we will say goodbye! Until then I/we will find ways to run many more times together! He isn’t moving that far away and there are many opportunities for meeting to train and race between here and where he is moving!

There was an announcement in the Pretzel City news letter yesterday that caught my attention. There will be an adult training camp here in the Poconos’! Please check it out on the Pretzel City website where you will find how to enroll.

Meanwhile I contacted the organizer and it turns out to be running icon Bill Reifsnyder a Williamsport native. The Camp Runabout will be held in Henryville, PA in the Poconos. I rented an existing 200 acre summer camp (Camp Lindenmere). I will be speaking with Bill next week, there may be opportunities for local folks to help with the camp. More info soon.
