The right reason?? I believe that reason is different for each of us. I doubt many of y’all have or will run your first marathon for the same reason I ran mine. Looking back I’m not positive my reason didn’t change, at least in my mind! All I know is that every fiber of my being is glad I did! I have no regrets! All I have positive warm memories of each and every event. I highly recommend running a marathon if your considering doing so.
