Former Pocono Mountain East standout Kraidon Woods is on the move again, with Drake University in Iowa his next stop.
Woods had sat out last season after transferring to Binghamton, but the instability there most likely had him looking at other options. I’ll be in touch with him soon hopefully to find out for sure.
If you remember, Woods starred at Pocono East, leading the Cardinals to Mountain Valley Conference titles in 2004 and 2006, when the Cards also made the District 11 Class AAAA final. He was set to go to Villanova, but decided to go to the Hill School in Pottstown for a year of prep. Then he pledged to Arizona State, where current Drake coach Mark Phelps was an assistant at the time. After two years and little playing time, Woods decided on Binghamton.
There’s no doubt Woods has the ability to play at the Division I level. Anyone who doubted that should watch tape of the district championship game, when Woods was dominant in a loss to an extremely talented Allen. He’s been bitten by some tough luck, going into situations where playing time was hard to come by (ASU) and where turmoil seemed to be everywhere (Binghamton). Drake should be a good place for Woods especially with an already-established connection with Phelps. When I know more you will, too.
