Night Time Ceremony

As evening fell, so did the temperature. I was worried, I admit it –but in the end it was fantastic.

Timing your wedding ceremony and celebration is important. This weekend I officiated for a couple that wanted their ceremony around sunset. Even though the temperature dropped quite a bit, the event was warm and welcoming. Luminaries lit the way, and the white lights danced on the arbor casting a wonderful glow.

Luminaries to light the way!

I gathered all of my shawls (I have quite a few) and placed them in a basket, offering them to the guests, and there were many takers.

Weather is always tricky with outdoor ceremonies, and I’ve certainly blogged about that topic a lot!

And it is also worth remembering that in the autumn the temperature can drop quite sharply at sunset and that temperatures vary widely at this time of year.

Here’s an interesting discussion on this.

An arbor lit at night looks fantastic.

The lack of light was also a problem, however, for photos and although I’m not a photographer I’d say it would be quite difficult to capture good images in the dark without a tripod. Since the couple didn’t have a professional photographer for the event, the person taking the photos used a flash, and because of that the images really didn’t capture the ‘vibe.’

The all important wrap.

But vibe there was! And what really matters most is that it was exactly what the couple wanted.

Practical and beautiful.
