Looking back at an Old-Tyme Photo

From the July 28, 2002, “Old-Tyme Photo” feature published in the Pocono Record:

Eileen Parton of East Stroudsburg remembered the boys shown in this photo – Bruce Smith, Terry Cramer and Barry Smith. They grew up together in the area of Roller and Borough streets, East Stroudsburg, she recalled.

They went fishing one day and caught this carp with their bare hands.

Florence Cramer of Stroudsburg, who also recognized the youngsters, told the Pocono Record about the origins of the picture:

The threesome went fishing one day and “caught this carp with their bare hands in the Brodhead Creek. They had to chase it a while, but were successful.”

She said, at the time of publication in 2002, that the Smith brothers were still living in area, but that the third boy – her son Terry Cramer – had died in an automobile accident about 30 years earlier.
