1989: Scout Round-Up

Pocono District Cub Scout Bike Rodeo

In 1989, Patrick Nadeau, 8, of Bear Pack 300, Stroudsburg, was "rescued" by EMTs Dave and Carolyn Smaley during a demonstration at the Cub Scout rodeo.

A light drizzle couldn’t keep 66 Cub Scouts representing ten packs from showing off their biking abilities as well as learning about biking safety during the annual Pocono District Cub Scout Bike Rodeo at the Stroudsburg High School on Aug. 19, 1989.

Boy Scout Matt Johnson of Stroudsburg, then 12 years old, lent a hand during the Cub Scout rodeo, keeping a close watch on the events.

Driving the point home on bicycle safety, were EMTs from General Ambulance, who were on hand to give demonstrations of emergency procedures.

The same procedures that would be used should a cyclist have an accident.
